My name is Angela. Several years ago, I was heavily involved in various community theatres around the area that I live. I did shows all the way from My Fair Lady to Titanic: The Musical. I was very passionate about the art and loved being onstage - but unfortunately some "backstage drama" caused me to find a distaste in the world that had become so dear to me. I left the theatre. Time went by & I decided to pursue a major in Secondary Education so that I could teach English. My University has an active theatre program & I decided to get involved in doing some backstage work. Nothing much - just enough to fill that ache that had been caused in my heart when I left. That's where I met Ames. A professor at my school, he saw some kind of a potential in me. After some pressure on his behalf, I decided to take one of his Acting courses - and from it my path in life was greatly changed. As part of the "requirement" for his class, he made me audition for our school's show - Kindertransport. I tried to explain to him that I wasn't an actress and that I'd quite left the theatre behind - but when he threatened to fail me, I had no other option left to me. I had to audition. The director, Brent Murrill, saw the same sort of potential in me that Ames had seen and decided to take a chance on me. Again, I tried to explain that I wasn't an actress - and again I was met with a deaf ear. I was forced back onto the stage quite against my will - and I cannot be more grateful to those two for doing it. During Kindertransport my love for the theatre was ignited once again and became a desperate passion that I simply could not get enough of. Under Ames' encouragement, I changed my major so that I could study in the Theatre Arts. I now have a determination to get my MFA so that I can teach Theatre at a college level and hopefully inspire students in the same way that I was inspired. This journal is a chronicling of my "adventures" within the theatre - and out. Thank you for reading! :) Current Production: A Year With Frog & Toad - Head Dresser |
